Zapato de Gato

Zapato de Gato is a collaboration between dancer Maria Avila, guitarist/canataor Emad Armoush and flute/saxophone player Jill Russell. We are a new ensemble that has been performing in Vancouver for 3 months. We do traditional flamenco palos with a modern influence, (Rocio Molina, Israel Galvan, Jorge Pardot). We three performers are strong improvisors and in this format we rely on traditional flamenco forms and harmonies to guide us. Our pieces are threaded with tightly arranged instrumental passages, traditional letras and creative dance techniques.
